A little Florentina Cirstea news

marius_20iacob_20pg_20400xDear All,

Nothing much to report from the papers today as far as I can see but I am late on the uptake sharing THIS article with you from Lumea Justitiei re: the fire at Giulesti. Nothing really new concerning our Florentina, the unfortunate nurse who happened to be on duty that night (if you didn't follow that story then scroll back here to August 17th. Also, see HERE for a blog dedicated to Florentina's right to a fair trial and the unfolding of a massive miscarriage of justice such as it was), but it talks about the autopsies of the babies that perished in the fire. They died, Luju writes, of carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation. Not of burns. For weeks we read and heard about tiny burnt victims, had nightmares due to the images that conjured.... But the babies apparently were not burnt - they did not die from burns... Why then were we told so repetitively that they were? Why were we described the horrifying and unimaginable 60-70% destruction of tiny, perfect babies? Because it sold newspapers? Because that's what people wanted to hear? That would make the Roumanian public a very sick people indeed and I know very well this isn't the case. Throughout the whole of the Giulesti tragedy, the press were on to Florentina Cirstea like dogs on a fox in open field. They reported erroneously, gave falsitudes right, left and centre and some of them down-right lied. They had Florentina up for murder and cast her away down the river before you could say 'crap'. Perhaps this autopsy will prove how quickly and unfairly people judged and if their views are based on media reports, well, simply how groundless they are.
