Herastrau next on Oprescu's hit list?

herastrau_park(Photo left: Herastrau Lake) Another piece of news concerning the 'suspended' road...we'd already heard the rumours but seeing it in black and white makes it all the worse...

Apparently, the overground road will pass underground - beneath some of Bucharest’s most important historic landmarks but also under several private properties en route to cut costs of expropriation, according to B365. Furthermore, the highway, officially named the 'Express Road', could well pass under Herastrau. Express Road...what a joke... bringing all this traffic into an already heavily overcharged area will be an Express Road. Ha... It'd be funny if it weren't so ludicrous. Please do read the comments beneath THIS article.

I don't get how all this is possible since the courts have ruled this project illegal, right? Or is that ONLY pertaining to the demolitions of properties on Berzei-Buzesti? What about the rest?

The highway does not cut up central parts of Bucharest and where several expropriations are scheduled, it will pass under them at 30-32 meters in depth,” Oprescu told Hotnews readers on an on-line chat. If the road will pass deep beneath the properties, then why the need for expropriations and what does he mean, it doesn't cut up central parts of Bucharest? Dacia? Polona? Pta Romana? Eminescu? Did the concept of 'centre' get moved? Where is 'centre' now then? Voluntari? Chitila? And what about the plans for Calarasi, Basarab and Traian? He really does think he is dealing with a nation of cretins who will gob everything he tells them. Perhaps a large percentage of the population are indeed complete idiots (enough to vote for him), but not all, by a very long stretch.

According to the Bucharest Herald, there is also the 'variant' of a crossing under Herastrau Lake. "One would access the area from the Aerogarii area and would come out on Polografiei. This is only a variant, but nothing clear has yet been established,” Vlad Cavarnali told B356.ro, so-called architect, member of the CTUAT and the OAR and (don't be amazed), director of one of the companies, Alpha Studio SRL who won the bid for the project. Gabrea has systemmatically lied about the demolitions for this project since it began, so why should Cavarnali do anything differently - they are as alike as two peas in a pod and inextricably linked by so many business deals and shadey partners that it makes one's head spin.

What I find it impossible to understand is this: I remember being told time and time again that when the metrou was constructed in Bucharest, it was sheer hell because of the condition of the soil which had to be dug. It was so hard, so difficult to penetrate, that the job took much longer than forecast - and that the soil of Bucharest is truly not supposed to be dug... The same was found decades earlier with the redirecting of the Dambovita. And yet, Oprescu and his band of merry terminators are looking to do exactly what I was told would be pure idiocy. Trying to tunnel through Bucharest.

The 'architects' (I bulk at terming them as such - they are an insult to the profession) are also considering a subterranean passage in the Pipera area. I do hope they don't intend to expropriate Becali's mother and other family members or that will cause a real scandal...

s2(Photo: Ziare) Following a trip to Beijing in March, Sorin Oprescu signed an agreement with the Shanghai Group to build the suspended highway. Works on the express road will start in October, and the first 16 km will be ready in 18 months, Oprescu said. The first part will be concluded on the Chitila Road, near the Constanta Bridge, where it will cross with DN1. Please read THIS article from Ziare which appeared in early March if you haven't already seen it. It comes as something of a shock.

The entire project will cover 50 km and will cost around 700 million Euro, according to Oprescu. Who cares how much it will cost. If this man told me the sky was blue, I would have to look out the window to check. He, Gabrea, Cavarnali and a bunch more besides... what a click of crooks. They have to be stopped, is all. It is ludicrous, absurd madness and it cannot be allowed to continue. Berzei-Buzesti was just an apero. The worst is yet to come.

If anyone knows anything more about the Shanghai Group, you know where I am. Please drop me a line.
