Ripping off with wine...

Always so inventive for finding ways to rip off others. Bravo for this hearty attempt. Very entrepreneurial... sadly, people aren't complete idiots as he supposed, and he got caught in flagrant delit. Maybe this will teach him and others like him that they can try...but to their own detriment. When one is in a country that is not their own, they should play by the rules and show a little respect. My first reaction on reading the article below was to laugh and applaud and cry, 'bravo!' and then I thought of Roumania's reputation beyond... [Lire la suite]

Pass the Gothic novel, please!

Working pretty hard on British Victorian literature (becoming a bit bored with it after 3h) and analysing various styles such as the Gothic novel and the Bildungsroman, I started wondering what the Roumanian equivalent in literature would have been. Of course, one thinks Gothic-Roumania-Dracula, but apart from the obvious, I mean, since that wasn't written by a Roumanian. Let's face it - it was written by a Brit who never even bothered to visit Roumania. Who were the writers in the country of my heart in the 19th century? What was... [Lire la suite]

Explore the Carpathian Garden in a Slovenian mail van!

Brilliant! The leaf in Romania’s tourism brand used by the Slovenian Post as well The famous leaf for which Elena Udrea paid 900,000 Euro to associate it with Romania’s tourism brand is used by the Slovenian Post as well. The leaf can be noticed on all the cars that transport stamps, letters or other goods of the Slovenian institution, Jurnalul Naţional writes. But the Slovenian Post is not the first company who is already using the famous leaf to promote its image. A shopping center from Slovenia also has a logo... [Lire la suite]

21 years on and.... what?

(Photo source) A 21st anniversary should be cause for celebration. I bend my head in memory of those who gave their lives in the fight for freedom against such a cruel and crippling regime. The 'revolution' turned out to be a mis en scene orchestrated by those grappling for new power who were, in fact, just the same makeup as the previous government. 21 years later, the country is run by oafs with zero pride and/or respect for their country, much less those who fought so hard for it. The so-called 'politicians' are badly educated at... [Lire la suite]

The jump in desperation....

Such a tragedy... in desperation... a young man working for TVR the News department, with two small children, one of them autistic: not enough money to support his family and worse still since the government slashed the care allowance by 25% for his child needing round the clock care. When he jumped from the balcony during Boc's speech, the PM ordered the blood be wiped off and then proceeded to continue. What kind of a man does that? What kind of an unfeeling and heartless machine is PM of Roumania? This evening finds the victim... [Lire la suite]

And Basescu is sick of EU monitoring???

Should anyone be questioning the Schengen argument for Roumania, here's an example why. If Basescu is sick of the country being monitored, he's going to have to work a bit harder to solve problems in his own back yard before criticising others for coming down on him and his government like a ton of bricks. There are obligations to be met and if he does not meet them, Schengen will be a far distant dream. This from Nine O'Clock: Romanians arrested in France for kidnapping 17.12.10 | by: Nine oClock | in: homenews According... [Lire la suite]

Bravo Helsinki!

From Bucharest Herald The city of Helsinki refuses to give any more money to Romanian beggars to return to their native country, Realitatea.net reported, quoting Helsingin Sanomat. Until now, Helsinki paid for plane tickets for nine Romanian Rroma citizens. Those who accepted the offer and agreed to return home got ferry tickets to Tallinn and each car got around 300 Euro for fuel, on condition that they left Finland within two days. Those with medical problems got plane tickets. Since the offer was made, several Roma came to ask for... [Lire la suite]

Rotten Placinta

This Razvan Andrei Placinta is really something else... a photo he posted on Facebook shows him peeing on a cross to describe "what I'm doing at the moment". He is a self-proclaimed satan-worshipper (each to his own), so it may be a good idea if his mother stopped telling everyone what an angel her son is since it is clearly against his religion. The more I read about this pond-life, the more I hope he will remain in jail and the key to his cell mislaid... The article below is from Realitatea. The fact that he kisses guys... [Lire la suite]
