Another 30 days for Florentina

Florentina Carstea's 29 day preventive arrest has come to an end...and been prolonged by another 30 days. Adrian Toma and Vasile Dima remain free whilst investigations continue, Marinescu seems to have been so well defended by Nazat and so protected by his friends in high places that his name has not even been mentioned whilst Mirela Ranga has disappeared off the face of the earth. The news of Florentina Carstea's prolonged incarceration falls alongside the startling news of Vantu's liberty - no 29 days for him. Whaaaat??? Nazat once again. The justice system has really fallen on its head. Whilst Vantu breathes the fresh air of liberty, Florentina Carstea remains banged up. But of course, silly me, she cannot afford lawyers like Maitre Nazat and hasn't buddies up there where it matters...some justice system. Some circus...

She has the right to appeal at the Bucharest Magistrate's Court, much good it will do her...the over-mediatised case has already judged her on television and in the press with the public as jury. It seems to suit everyone involved that she is entirely responsible for a gangrenous health system, an incompetent management, needing the bathroom, a 12 minute absence fromp her post during a 12h shift, lack of personnel and thus cover, a neglected electrical network and a bodged air-con system. Let's also blame her for the Crimean War, the disappearance of the Incas and the Russian Revolution while we're at it...

My only logical explanation for her continued incarceration, apart from the fact that it's convenient for the true culprits, is that she is safer locked up and that is entirely the fault of the gutter press..

I am beside myself.. What kind of banana repucliv justice is that? A crook like Vantu, who caused millions of euros in losses to the population, is freed and Ms Carstea, who cannot afford Nazat, a well connected laywer and who probably charges a fortune, this woman gets another 30 days? How is she going to resist another month? Do they want her to go mad or to kill herself?<br /> I am totally outraged by this mockery of justice...Shame of the prosecutor, shame on the judge, shame on the entire Romanian judicial system..
